A little more about me…

I identify as Latina, and am fluent in both Spanish and English (and am very fluent in a mix of both). I knew whatever I ended up doing in life, I’d be working with families, parents and caregivers, and young children. I have a Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Spanish and have extensive experience working with parents/caregivers and children ages 0-5 years old, focusing on attachment, security, and social-emotional child development.

After graduating from Colorado State University in 2021, I worked as an infancy and early childhood mental health programs coordinator at a Latine mental health agency- where I facilitated Circle of Security Parenting groups and worked closely with caregivers of young children 0-6. After that, I worked simultaneously as a behavior support specialist across 5 Denver early childhood education centers supporting teachers and parents in understanding their child’s social-emotional needs and communication. Anything parenting, child human and social-emotional development, birth, postpartum is what I am passionate about. I am also a strong believer that people should make their own decisions about their body, and that an abortion is an act of love (whether for yourself, your community, the Earth, or what you spiritually believe about your pregnancy).

I have taken a DONA International birth doula training, Allo Doula Academy full spectrum birth doula training, Elephant Circle training, and a CAPPA Lactation Educator Training. I have taken an Abortion Companion training by Montse (@Mujerdelatierra) and Colorado Doula Project’s Abortion Doula training. Additionally, I have taken Cornerstone’s Homebirth for Birthworkers skills training. I am currently taking a Cornerstone Childbirth Educator training so I may offer childbirth education courses in the near future.

Mi comunidad and supporting birthing people that look like me, have similar histories, and that are marginalized and often dismissed and discriminated in medical settings, are the reason and my passion for doing this work. About 3 years ago, I had a life-changing experience in which I experienced discrimination in a medical setting, and my pain was dismissed and not heard. That feeling is awful. You feel silenced. Weak. Invalidated. Small. Knowing that the maternal mortality rate is 3x higher for Black birthing people as well as also higher for indigenous, birthing people of color, and those on the LGBTQ+ spectrum compared to white cis-het people is the reason why it is so important to have another person advocating WITH you in that space. I believe that everyone that wants a doula or companion, deserves to have a doula or companion advocating with them, and I also believe that birth justice is more than just having a choice, it is about access to these choices, so I offer my services on a sliding scale or work with you through payment plans, if that is needed.

When I am not working with birthing people, parents, or people choosing an abortion, I am usually spending time with my dog, Charlie, crocheting, and spending time connecting with my friends and family.
